Philips 272G5DYEB 27-Inch G-Sync Gaming Monitor User Review

This monitor is great!  For me it meets all the important criteria that are important for me in a monitor at the moment:

  • G-Sync – No tearing or input lag ever again
  • 144Hz – paired with G-Sync just great to look at, but hard to describe … everything is so “smooth” 🙂
  • 1080p – I like to play at the native resolution and still with all the hype around UHD I can’t use it as even my GTX970 can’t shoulder modern games on 1080p and if it can there still is down sampling.
  • 27 inches – Super size if you have a somewhat lower table and thus distance from the monitor.

Before I had the only other monitor that currently met these criteria, the Acer XB270H Abprz, but it had a relatively poor black level and even for a TN panel a narrow viewing angle. Because I couldn’t get used to the poor black level I got the Philips 272G5DYEB/00. When compared noticed that the black level was much better and had no blue tinge, as is the case with the Acer and that the viewing angles and brightness distribution was better. Otherwise, they were at a fairly similar, high level in all other respects (sharpness, brightness, contrast) (for TN panels), the color reproduction was perhaps a tick better on the Acer but nothing decisive. Overall, my choice was clear and the Acer was sold again.

TP-LINK RE450: optimize your WiFi for a maximum performance

Surely you will feel identified with the following situation, as it’s not unusual when you have Internet service at home. Once the contract is signed, the technician from the ISP comes to your house, locates the communications output, and installs the router just some meters away.

It is true that, on rare occasions, we can negotiate an installation on another room, but sometimes this is even not enough to ensure wireless access to all locations in the house. Though this lack of coverage in every corner was not a problem a few years ago, today most homes have a wide range of devices whose full functionality depends on a correct Internet connection; and not just entertainment or productivity elements (such as laptops, smartphones, tablets and printers), but also control and safety elements (such as wireless thermostats or surveillance cameras) that can only fulfill their functions if they have a stable Network connectivity.

TP-LINK RE450

To check if these problems have a solution, we reviewed one of the most powerful network extenders that can be found on the market, the TP-LINK WiFi Range Extender AC1750 RE450.

For big problems…

A big problem needs a big solution and the specifications of the TP-LINK WiFi Range Extender AC1750 RE450 show it as the perfect candidate for this issue.

A comparison of the best antivirus for Windows 7

AV-TEST has made an interesting comparison that has allowed them to see which the best antivirus are for Windows 7 that you can find in the market.

Yes, we are aware that there are more current operating systems, such as Windows 8.1 and Windows 10, but the reality is that today Windows 7 continues to lead the OS market for general consumption, and by quite a comfortable distance, a situation that doesn’t look like it’s going to change any time soon.

Dedicated graphics card or integrated, hard disk or SSD: five PC components that you need to know which one is the best for you

  • by

Maybe it’s time to renew your computer: find a computer that fits your needs in this new season. Or, on the other hand, you may only want to expand its power or capacity.

What do you need to know about the components of a computer to mount the best PC or get the right parts? Though at first this may be complex, the important parts of a computer that you must assess are not too many. Let’s get to know them better.

The hard drive

hard drive

The hard drive is possibly one of the most important components of a computer: thanks to them you can store data and install the operating systems. There are several types of drives: magnetic hard drives (the most widespread), SSDs (new and fast) and hybrid drives that combine both technologies.

Norton Security 2016 User Review

  • by

I’ve used Norton Internet Security for 2 years and was quite satisifed. Norton Security replaces the previous applications Norton Antivirus and Norton 360 so that all features are included in one application. I’ve been using antivirus applications for many years. I already had Norton Antivirus in the 90s although back then the program slowed down my PC significantly. That’s why I used other applications in between. Avira, Comodo, Kaspersky, and McAfee  for example, I can’t even remember the names of some of them. I had the premium versions of Kaspersky and Avira but all in all wasn’t really satisfied. Avira lasted the longest (3 years) until the software stopped working and even a new installation couldn’t protect my PC properly. After that I tested the free version of Comodo but wasn’t all that pleased because the application was very intrusive but didn’t offer 100% protection.

Because of all of that I switched back to Norton Internet Security 2 years ago after some positive reviews in Magazines and from customers persuaded me. And indeed: After my first scan with Nortion Internet Security the software found 3 until then not found comprimised files which the application removed or even repaired. These weren’t some dangerous virus that would have made my PC useless but it did make a good first impression and showed that a switch of software was indeed necceary.

Nvidia GeForce GTX 980M vs 970M vs 965M vs 960M vs 860M Specs and Benchmark Comparison

  • by

Powered by the next-gen Nividia Maxwell archictecture, compared to their predecessors, GeForce’s GTX 980M and GTX 970M take graphic cards to a new level with their unmatched power efficiency, high performance and advanced features. But the GTX 960M, based on the same architecture with its predecessors, fails to impress in the technical specs department.

[toc]There are two versions of the GTX 860M. One is based on the Maxwell architecture while the other packs a Kepler version. The latter featured a MXM interface along with 80% more shader units. But its low performance made it less usable. Comparing the GTX 960M and the Maxwell version of the GTX 860M, you will spot numerous similarities in specs. Both GPU models use a GM107 chip; you can place 640 Unified Shaders. They also have 2048 – 4069 MB GDDR5 video memory available for use connected via a 128-bit memory interface.

Best Graphics card under 200 dollars for 1080p Gaming

Although many users still use lower resolutions, we can say that playing in 1080p has become the new standard or, to put it in other way, the main goal of most of the PC gaming community.

One of the main reasons lies in the good quality-value relation that implies mounting a computer that allows you to enjoy these resolutions with acceptable performance, in addition to the large drop in prices that high quality monitors have experienced, coming in large sizes and Full HD resolutions.

Best SSD for Gaming 2016

CPU speeds keep increasing, and new devices operate at a rate greater than that which they can fetch data from computer hard drives. This leads to informational bottlenecks when the dataflow is not sufficient enough to keep up with processing speed. The solution is an SSD. As long as you choose a solid-state drive for your machine, which one you choose will not make much of a change in performance. The real boost comes when you change your standard hard disk to any SSD.

Will an SSD make games run better?

Whether your games will run more smoothly depends on a large variety of factors, and these depend on what precisely you mean by “better.” A solid state drive will not help with low frame rate. Instead, you need a more powerful GPU. What an SSD does for game performance is the same thing it does for a running any types of programs or applications on your computer. These drives reduce the time it takes for any program to load. SSD’s transfer data at speeds over 400 MB per second compared to the 170 MB per second of standard hard drives.

Acer Aspire E 15 E5-573-57DV User Review (Intel Core i5-5200U, 4GB Ram, 500GB Hard Disk)

Pros – The Acer Aspire E 15 E5-573-57DV offers the best value for money. I got it at a throw away price of only $339 dollars at a sale. To start with, the system boasts of an Intel Core i5 5200 dual core processor clocked at 2.20 GHz. That’s quite a lot for the price point. Another spec that is worth a mention is the keyboard design. It features full-size keys, spaced out well so that you can type faster, accurately and comfortably. There are a lot of other specs such as the 10/100/1000 Ethernet, 802.11ac Wi-Fi featuring MU-MIMO technology, Bluetooth 4.0 and the ability to add a second hard-drive that make it worth every penny.

Cons: Now for the Cons. The one thing we’ve noted about Acer is that upgrading is probably the last thought when designing laptops. If you want to upgrade the hard drive and the RAM, you will have to take the system apart. The OS wasn’t upgraded. You are not given a back-up media, but you can always create it. From my experience with the system, you should create the backup media as soon as you boot it.
