Best Laptop Brands 2018

Once you get close to making up your mind as to what laptop you would like to buy, you may find yourself having to choose between two very similar machines, with similar technical and design characteristics, but which have been constructed by two different manufacturers.

Is there really any difference between brands?

Even if from one manufacturer to another, a computer’s components might come from the same supplier, the laptop’s brand is its most distinctive element and what will be important to you in making your decision.

It is similar to what happens with cars: two brands of cars, built with parts coming from the same suppliers, only really distinguish themselves from each other by their brand, which is what represents the manufacturer’s standards and reputation, the level of styling and finishing, as well as the quality of the after-sales service.

What are the best laptop brands? Which ones are the worst?

The reliability of brands is a highly controversial subject. Oftentimes, a brand’s perceived reputation is polluted by anecdotal accounts which fill up certain online forums with raging rants, and it becomes hard to determine whether these negative opinions are really statistically representative of an actual lack of quality.

MSI GT75VR Titan Pro Review

1. Introduction

Gaming laptops have evolved to such an extent that it is possible to have models as thick as an ultrabook while also being more than powerful enough. However, if we want the maximum performance available for a laptop, we will have to forget about gimmicks and go for devices on which their lightness or compact sizes fall into the background, like it happens with this MSI GT75VR Titan Pro.

This devices is a gaming laptop in all the sense of the phrase: a device on which the most important things are performance and specifications, and on which it does not matter if it is 5 cm thick or weighs almost 5 kg. What matters is its performance and for it to be able to cool everything seamlessly. Theoretically speaking, this is a promising device due to its Core i7-7820HK, its GTX 1080 and its 17.3-inch 4K panel.

MSI GT75VR Titan ProLet’s see what the MSI GT75VR Titan Pro is capable of.

2. External and internal designs

We can tell you right now that this is not an ultrabook nor does it pretend to be one, and we will not be looking for a sober or elegant design, as this is a striking laptop in terms of size, power and design, of course.

[Test] Netgear Orbi RBK50: the Rolls Royce of WiFi networks?

  • by

What we liked:

  • Great performance
  • Easy installation
  • Nice design

What we did not like:

  • Its price
  • Large size

Verdict

Simple to install and very comprehensive, the Orbi RBK50 is a very powerful WiFi networking solution. In the course of our testing, the Netgear system managed to cover a particularly complex, 120 m2 area (thick walls and several stories) while providing high bandwidth. At the moment, the Orbi is one of the best solutions available for improving WiFi coverage. If that is, you are willing to pay the price. If you find its price to be too high, there are other, less powerful, but just as comprehensive solutions available, such as Netgear’s RBK40 and 30.

Xbox One X: review

  • by

We squeezed the most out of Microsoft’s new console a few days before it went on sale. We are talking about visually attractive finishes, power, 4K settings and capabilities, the first adapted games and so much more. It lands on November 7.

Xbox One X – Look at the beast

It has been a long time since Project Scorpio was announced as what would be (and is) the most powerful console ever created. Microsoft decided to go all in with this new version to give the console more power, which is something that the Xbox One lacked when it was launched. Starting November 7, we can officially buy the console in stores. On Meristation, we have been using for a few days one of these devices, which intends to take the console gaming to another level. But does it really?

  • by

Having a tablet is good, but being able to use it as a veritable portable PC is even better. More tech-savvy users will already be aware of the fact that it is possible to connect any Bluetooth keyboard to their Android device. Many Bluetooth keyboards, while being practical, are not very mobile. Logitech has just started marketing the Key-To-Go, a very thin-profiled and lightweight keyboard which is also hermetically sealed and offers a very comfortable typing experience.

Logitech Key-To-Go

A compact and comprehensive keyboard

This small keyboard is not really an innovation, in fact, Logitech already released an earlier version last year which was exclusively reserved for Apple devices. The Key-To-Go, which we were able to test, is slightly different in the sense that it is compatible with both Windows and Android devices. Therefore, it has shortcut keys specific to both operating systems. The Ctrl, Alt, Fn (function) and Windows keys are clearly visible among the lower keys; the Android home, back and multitasking shortcut keys are to be found among the top keys on the keyboard.

ASUS ROG Zephyrus GX501 Gaming Laptop Review (Intel Core i7-7700 + GTX 1080)

1. Introduction and specifications

Gone are the times when a high-performance gaming laptop was oversized and thick, and when its weight could be or exceed 5 kg, making it more of a ‘portable’ desktop PC than an ordinary laptop.

Although they were rarities at first, thin and small gaming laptops are already relatively common.
