One of the functions that has been recovered in the OneDrive client built into Windows 10 is to be able to access files from any of our connected PCs directly from OneDrive.com Many will miss the possibility of the custom and timely file download from OneDrive, as Windows 8.1 allowed it, but instead we have …
It is a customizable system where you can link folders directly without having to walk around with Quick Access. It is as simple as dragging the folder you want to the new “Quick Access” area in the browser. It does not work with direct access, only with folders.
These can be synced folders and it even supports trash bin. The system also works as direct access if you click with the right button the File Browser icon in the taskbar, and of course it also works on any file dialog that you have in any Windows application, either universal or desktop.
For me, Windows 10 for Tablets is perhaps the perfect expression of this operating system. It is able to detect when you are in tablet mode or when you want to use it as a conventional PC. This will give a breath of fresh air to two in one systems and any of these tablets …
When we buy a new computer, many times we stop to think how much RAM is needed for our day to day activities. It is easy to let yourself be convinced by the vendors, or the desire to have the “best of the best.” But before spending our hard-earned savings, you should think about the use that you will give to the machine.
How to choose the memory
[toc]In all cases, it’s usual to buy RAM memory in an even number of modules. That way you can take advantage of a motherboard feature (the models from the latest few years have it) that lets you use both modules at the same time during the execution of tasks (what is known as Dual Channel). So, I will focus on memory amounts that are multiples of 2. To obtain performance from 4GB of RAM or more, you must have a 64-bit operating system.
The method is simple. We need a spare hard drive or at least an accessible partition. If our hard drive has enough space, we can also free up some space for the partition that will host Windows 10. That’s the way we will do it. We just need a previously installed Windows 7 or Windows 8.
First step: Free up some space for the Windows 10 Partition
From Windows 7, the disk manager can resize partitions to make them bigger or smaller. We will free up 30 GB out of the 120 GB so we have enough space for Windows 10. It has to be unused space. It is not advisable to give less than 60 GB per System, so if you have a smaller unit, perhaps it would be better to make the installation in a separate hard drive since the installation process is pretty much the same.
We will open the disk management (diskmgmt.msc) and look for the unit we want to resize. Right click it and then resize. We will leave enough space. By default, Windows leaves it in half. That is good enough for us. After reducing the size of the drive, we can go to the next step.
Many NAS from Synology, and especially in certain ranges, they have the possibility to expand their RAM, even if it’s not particularly supported. One of the differences between two models such as the DS1515 and the DS1515+ is that the second one supports up to 6 GB of RAM through an accessible SODIMM slot on one of its sides.
The DS1515 comes with 2 GB of RAM, an interesting amount for a NAS. The best part is that the 2 GB of 1600 DDR3 RAM are mounted on a SODIMM slot. We can mount up to 4 GB of 1600 DDR3 in this slot as long as they are low voltage, therefore 1.35 modules. The only difficulty is that we need to gain space between the NAS’s motherboard and the storage slots so that we can extract the old module and install the new one. Unmounting it will oblige us to almost unmounts the whole NAS, because of the connection “riser’s”, so it’s best to just make some space to be able to unblock the installed DIMM and replace it for a new one.
The restoration tool in Windows 10 has become a great ally for those who like adventure and want to be the first to try everything, and therefore they don’t hesitate to install unofficial builds and participate in the fast ring channel.
Many of these users are usually advanced and generally know what they do, but since Windows 10 has reached enormous popularity and the huge number of testers is also characterized by variety, we thought it would be interesting to post this short tutorial, in which you will see how to create restoration points in Windows 10.
Many of us have DNS registry services that offer free dynamic DNS services and therefore we have to rely on services like no-ip, dynDNS, etc. Today I will introduce you a neutral app and show you how to use it.
The application in question is: Dynamic DNS client. You can download it from the Play Store and it is completely free! One of its advantages is that it doesn’t depend on any particular service, it doesn’t require root and it is capable of updating through Wi-Fi or 3G/4G, making it quite versatile.
Many modern security suites incorporate basic protection against non-viral threats such as rootkits and spyware. But the specialized solutions are still a better option to fight them. Whatever your case is, learn how to use this antimalware and antispyware tools.
